2011 Halloween Extravaganza Wrap Up

First and foremost, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the 2011 Halloween Extravaganza! This year, we were able to raise over $30,000 for animal cancer treatment!

Doors opened at 5:30, and by 6pm hall was already getting crowded. After locating their tables, people milled around the hall, socializing and perusing the silent auction tables. Thanks to Jennifer Stelfox, this year’s silent auction was the biggest ever! There were over 130 items of all shapes and sizes, from Oilers tickets to jewelry to pet prize baskets; something for everyone!

Before dinner began, there were a few announcements made by ACTSS President and Founder Jennifer Stelfox, who also introduced the night’s emcee: the lovely Seanna Collins. A huge thanks to Seanna for being such a great host!

Before dinner, the 50/50 and raffles were well underway, and Karen Sokolik introduced a new contest – The Lucky Slimeball Frenzy – that was a huge hit with all who participated.

After thoroughly enjoying the enormous buffet, folks once again took their seats and the silent auction began. Terry Haddock, our lively auctioneer, showcased several different items, including a Segway (thanks to Ron Brown of Shippers Supply ) an incredible print of one of ACTSS’ subsidized dogs, Marina (donated by SPYD photography), an awesome patio set (courtesy of Dave Ringnalda), and a massive Halloween themed cake provided by Cheryl’s Creations.

The final event of the evening was the highly anticipated Pet Costume Contest! There were 16 pets competing in the contest, dressed up in a variety of different costumes from police ladies to Santa Claus and his reindeer. The prize baskets and ribbons were (as always!) generously provided by A Dirty Dog Wash. Thanks to SPYD Photography, pets and their humans once again had the opportunity to commemorate their participation with a gorgeous professional portrait.
